  1. ShowShare is an application designed to supplement System 7‚Äôs file sharing with additional functionality. It's most original feature is the display of an indicator icon in the menu bar which shows the current state of file sharing. As the state of file sharing changes, so will the indicator. The icons which you will see are as follows:

  5. This icon indicates file sharing is running without error.

  9. This icon indicates file sharing is not running.

  13. This icon indicates file sharing is starting up.

  17. This icon indicates file sharing is shutting down.

  21. This icon indicates file sharing tried to start up but was unable to do so due to an error.

All icons will be displayed in color or monochrome, depending upon the bit depth of the monitor on which the menu bar resides. All icons inside ShowShare are named resources. If you feel proficient with ResEdit or another resource editor you may edit these icons. (You‚Äôll also find a few more icons I haven‚Äôt implemented yet.)

Note: ShowShare was originally going to work with just file sharing. Then I added some file serving support. Until Apple releases some info on how to query/control file sharing more (or I get better at hacking globals inside Macsbug) I'll direct most of my work towards increased file serving control and increased indicator functionality.
